Lloyd Learning, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preparing underrepresented female students for the global science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workforce. The Starfish STEM Academy is an informal learning program implemented by the Lloyd Learning organization to: (1) offer STEM camps and workshops at NO COST or LOW COST to underrepresented female students; (2) increase STEM opportunities and career paths in STEM fields for underrepresented female students; and (3) reduce gender barriers and achievement gaps for underrepresented female students. In collaboration with Countryside High School and St. Petersburg College, STEM camps will be offered in June. STEM workshops will be conducted 1-2 Saturdays on a monthly basis throughout the academic school year.

CODING CAMP: During a 4-day camp, students will learn the basics of coding and game design using drag and drop block programming. No coding experience is required. Students will select one of two sessions being offered.

PARTICIPANTS: Current 6th – 8th grade female students
LOCATION: Countryside High School
DATE: June 8-11, 2020
TIME: (choose only one): 9am – 12pm OR 1pm – 4pm
COST: FREE (Refreshments will be provided.)
REGISTRATION: Registration will begin April 20. Information will be posted at the Lloyd Learning website and Countryside High School website and Facebook page.
